Enterprise series: The UK’s place in the global economy going forward

Start date: October 8, 2021 10:00 - 10:45am

With much of the population fully vaccinated and coronavirus restrictions lifted in the UK, the economy is forecasted to be back to prepandemic levels by the end of the year, even with a winter slowdown due to a rise in infection levels factored in. With the Delta variant now affecting the forecasts of Europe and the US, the UK outlook is stronger in comparison, having faced this threat earlier on in the year. However, other factors such as leaving Europe’s customs union and single market as part of Brexit have resulted in supply chain issues and worker shortages which are set to affect consumers in the long term.

So where does this leave the UK economy in the global arena? Join Gregory Perdon, Co-Chief Investment Officer at Arbuthnot Latham & Co., Limited as he talks through the major players and how global events are predicted to affect the UK’s position. Gregory will:

Summarise the UK economic outlook

Articulate what the leading think tanks are forecasting for Global Britain

Analyse the key challenges on a sector-by-sector basis; and

Highlight the attractive opportunity sets going forward
