How to navigate the Shared Parental Leave Regulations
Recent years have seen the introduction of an array of family friendly laws which businesses have to get grips with. These laws are designed to make the transition from parenthood back into the workplace a smoother process, ensure a good work/life balance for employees and allow parents to take parental leave in a more flexible way that suits their needs.
The Shared Parental Leave Regulations came into force on 1 December 2014 and apply to all children born on or after 5 April 2015. Whilst these are broadly welcome, spare a thought for the business owners and HR professionals who need to tackle the complexities of the new Shared Parental Leave Regulations and avoid getting it wrong, which is easily done.
HR Insight invites managers of people, business owners and HR Professionals to attend an interactive seminar on the new Shared Parental Leave Regulations. This Seminar will examine:
- The qualifying conditions for Shared Parental Leave and Pay
- How the leave can be shared between the parents
- Opting in and out of SPL
- Notification Requirements
- Calculating the entitlement
- Pitfalls in the legislation
- The implications if things go wrong
Learning Objective: This interactive seminar will enable attendees to consolidate knowledge and skills in this new area of employment law and practice to tackle the issues with greater confidence. The training will be led by our experienced Head of Legal, and an HR Consultant will be in attendance.
