Facing mental health issues head on

We are supporting and fundraising for mental health charity Mind.

Over the coming weeks, our enthusiastic and sporty teams will be undertaking an energetic programme of fundraising activities – pushing themselves to the limit to raise much-needed funds for Mind.

Statistically, one in four people will experience a mental health problem in any given year.

On Sunday 29 July, Senior Partner Martin Muirhead is getting on his bike for Mind by joining in the Prudential RideLondon. This is the UK’s largest cycle ride designed to raise funds for charities. A marathon on wheels!

In September, we’re adopting the weekend of 8th and 9th September as the Kingston Smith Mind weekend. We have a team of 20 people training hard for the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. This comprises 24 beautiful miles up and down the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough – in, hopefully, 12 hours. A marathon over mountains!

Mind is the UK’s leading mental health charity, providing advice and support to those experiencing a mental health problem.

Meanwhile that same weekend, we have another team – including both Managing Partner Maureen Penfold and Martin – tackling the Thames Bridge Trek. This city dwellers’ walk zigzags across 16 London bridges and covers 15 miles of London tarmac.

Through public campaigns, influencing decision makers and the services that local Minds deliver to communities across England and Wales, Mind has touched millions of lives.

We have a range of further adventures in store throughout the year, which will see Kingston Smith people jumping out of planes, abseiling, and running half and full marathons. And we have already enjoyed huge fundraising success with the likes of a Grand National sweepstake, a raffle of a night in a luxury hotel, an Easter egg hunt, a St Patrick’s Day bake sale and a royal wedding party. Our firmwide spring clean of unwanted items for donation to Mind’s 135 shops saw us beat far larger organisations with over 100 sacks of clothes, books and bric-a-brac..

We are proud to associate the Kingston Smith name with the amazing work that Mind does. If you would like to support Mind, you can do so here. Remember to claim Gift Aid!
