HMRC consults on the Apprenticeship Levy: Tim Stovold comments

“With less than three months to go, many businesses have failed to assess the impact of the Apprenticeship Levy payable from April 2017,” says Tim Stovold, head of tax at Kingston Smith. “Although businesses with annual salary costs of below £3m should not have to contribute, for those which do not have wide scale training programs the Levy is the same as a 0.5 per cent increase in employers’ national insurance.”
