Kingston Smith promotes #LondonIsOpen message in India

Head of Tax, Tim Stovold, and Chandru Iyer, Head of International Business Development, key members of the Kingston Smith India group, were in India last month to promote the Mayor of London’s message – #LondonIsOpen as part of the London Catalyst for Growth (LCFG) seminars.

The LCFG seminars are a joint initiative of Kingston Smith, London & Partners, Department for International Trade, Newland Chase and The City of London Corporation. LCFG aims to provide a platform for Indian companies looking at Setting up in the UK, organic and inorganic expansion, M&A, capital raising and listings in London. This year, the 5th annual ‘London: Catalyst for Growth Seminar’ was held in Mumbai (21 February), Gurgaon (22 February) and Bangalore (23 February). These informative sessions brought together our India group members, along with other experts from the UK to share thoughts and experiences on how London is a strategically fit location for internationally-focused Indian companies.

During the discussion, panellists shared their collective experiences and thoughts about doing business in the UK, the support and opportunities made available by the government, and tips on how to plan a quick and cost-effective business presence in Europe. Attendees of these workshops across the three cities also benefited from the focused, practical advice and business and regulatory insights of experienced professionals from the UK in the legal, financial and accounting fields.

The five-year-old London Catalyst for growth seminar series has successfully passed on the message that #LondonIsOpen – and how the city can act as the perfect launchpad for the global aspirations of Indian businesses, even more so in these dynamically changing business environments. The fact that many Indian companies have been able to leverage to their advantage the sound advice and guidance provided by the panellists at these seminars, and set up their presence in London, bears testimony to that.

In addition to this seminar series, Chandru and Tim, accompanied by our General practice partner, Parveen Chadda, also held one-to-one meetings with clients, prospects and business associates across other Indian cities, including Pune, Chennai, Chandigarh and, the latest addition to the visit schedule, Ludhiana.
