Moore Kingston Smith advises Centaur Media PLC on the sale of The Lawyer to The Legal Benchmarking Group

Moore Kingston Smith has provided financial and tax vendor due diligence services to Centaur Media PLC in connection with the sale of The Lawyer to The Legal Benchmarking Group, a portfolio company of Triple Private Equity.

The transaction brings together one of the UK’s most respected legal media and intelligence brands with a leading provider of benchmarking and performance data for law firms worldwide. The strategic combination will support The Lawyer’s continued growth as a data-driven business intelligence platform serving the global legal sector.

The acquisition represents a further step in Centaur’s strategy to focus on its core brands, while enabling The Lawyer to accelerate its growth under new ownership.

Founded in 1987, The Lawyer is one of the UK’s leading sources of news, analysis and intelligence for the legal profession. Its products deliver data-driven insight to law firms and in-house legal teams across the UK and internationally.

Centaur is a London-based B2B information group specialising in expert-led content and intelligence across select professional markets. The sale of The Lawyer forms part of Centaur’s strategy to maximise shareholder value.

The Legal Benchmarking Group provides benchmarking and performance analysis for law firms globally. The addition of The Lawyer enhances its portfolio with a well-established media and subscription brand, strengthening its position as a leading source of business intelligence for the legal industry.

As a long-standing adviser to Centaur Media plc, Moore Kingston Smith was engaged to deliver comprehensive financial and tax vendor due diligence services for the transaction. The team produced a detailed vendor due diligence report for The Lawyer, assessing historical financial performance, forward-looking trends, and key commercial drivers – helping to facilitate a smooth and efficient transaction process.
