Moore Kingston Smith soars to #44 in 2025 Social Mobility Employer Index
We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve been ranked #44 in the 2025 Social Mobility Employer Index, climbing a significant 29 places from last year. This is particularly encouraging, as we’re passionate about furthering social mobility and helping people realise their ambitions – whatever their starting point. With 140 entrants, reflecting UK employers that actively seek to further social mobility through their actions and commitments, this position highlights the impact of our efforts to create a fairer workplace.
Published by the Social Mobility Foundation, the Index recognises UK employers who are leading the way in advancing social mobility. Our rise in the rankings reflects the meaningful progress we’ve made in creating a more inclusive and equitable workplace, where everyone can thrive regardless of their background. This placement also reflects our belief in people’s potential to make a positive impact.
This top 45 recognition is a result of our people’s dedication and the strength of the initiatives we’ve put in place to build a more inclusive, representative culture; from our recruitment practices to outreach and mentoring programmes, and so much more. Together, we’re working to remove barriers and open doors for the next generation of talent.
Here’s how we’re driving social mobility:
- Inclusive assessment practices: We’ve reviewed our early careers assessment process to focus on potential rather than polish, making assessments more accessible and reflective of real ability. Inclusive hiring training ensures interviewers focus on skills and potential, aligning with our aim to foster an inclusive environment.
- Enhanced virtual work experience: We’ve further developed our virtual work experience programme to reach an even broader range of young people. This complements the in-person outreach, offering accessible and varied experiences that build confidence in pursuing careers in the sector.
- Diverse career entry routes: We offer multiple career entry routes for school leavers, graduates and career changers. Our training programmes are recognised in the Top 100 Apprenticeship Employers rankings.
- Expanded outreach and partnerships: We continue engaging with initiatives such as Access Accountancy and the ICAEW-led Rise programme, helping to demystify the profession and provide pathways for young people from low socio-economic backgrounds.
- Advocacy and thought leadership: We actively advocate for social mobility through entering the Social Mobility Awards, lunch & learns, our mentoring programme and online insights and schools outreach, sharing best practice and removing barriers to entry.
- Empowering our people: Our Social Mobility Community Group, a key part of our dedicated ED&I Committee, continues to champion equal opportunities and supports colleagues in realising their ambitions.
Looking ahead
We’re excited to be introducing insight days with Pathway CTM, giving students valuable in-person experience followed by ongoing support and mentoring. We’re also harnessing the power of data. Thanks to new systems and processes, we have deeper insights that will help us monitor and adapt our recruitment and progression strategies to ensure continued progress.
Matt Meadows, Managing Partner at Moore Kingston Smith, commented: “Reaching #44 in the Social Mobility Employer Index speaks to the work that’s gone into creating a workplace where potential comes first and is encouraged and celebrated. The index provides us with a roadmap to continue to contribute to a more equitable professional services industry, build on our successes and drive more positive change.”
