NI – a warning for the self-employed, Head of Tax Tim Stovold comments

“The NI for the employed is unlikely to change,” says Tim Stovold, head of tax at Kingston Smith. “So the self-employed are fair game – the Chancellor will still have “levelling the playing field” between employed and self-employed in his sights. The failed increase in Class 4 National Insurance did little to close the gap between the national insurance liabilities of employed and self-employed earners, but could be resurrected in the Autumn Budget.”
