You have a choice: Plan for succession in the positions held by your top team or deal with the consequences when your top talent leaves and you have no-one ready to step into the role. This is equally important for the owner-manager, who may find the price of their business critically affected if they can’t show a potential buyer that they have a plan to replace themselves in the top job.
