Cassa Townsend

Cassa Townsend is an experienced community engagement and volunteering management professional, having overseen programmes for regional and national charities including National Trust, the Wildlife Trusts and CPRE, the countryside charity. Her work has been largely in the environmental and heritage sector, empowering people to be active citizens, through campaigning or action to support their local neighbourhoods and greenspaces. She has recently been working in regional Green Social Prescribing, as part of a national demonstrator programme highlighting the benefits, evidence and value of connecting with nature and the outdoors for health and wellbeing.

Alongside her degree in Environmental Economics, Cassa has recently trained in Social Value/Impact Management and Social Return on Investment – she is a Level 1 Associate Practitioner for Social Value International and a member of the Institute for Social Value UK.

Cassa enjoys time outdoors walking in the Peak District National Park on her doorstep, and in North Wales where she has family connections. She is a trustee for climate-awareness charity Hope for the Future while undertaking freelance work for a range of nonprofits on their development, social impact and growth.
