Geraint Lewis

Geraint leads the Moore Kingston Smith VAT advisory Team. Over a career in VAT spanning almost 40 years, both in HMRC and in practice, Geraint has worked with all manner of organizations ranging from large multinational corporations to not-for-profit organisations and public bodies.

He has been involved in providing support on a wide range of issues, including, but not limited to, structuring opportunities, the VAT treatment of different income sources and activities in the context of VAT reliefs and exemptions, VAT recovery for capital projects, as well as VAT on property-related transactions. He regularly takes a leading role in complex disputes with HMRC, including dealing with formal appeals to the tax Tribunal.

Geraint’s knowledge and experience means that he understands the specific VAT challenges faced by clients in this area and is always keen to ensure that any advice he provides is not only technically excellent but also commercial.

He is a regular speaker at various events, and contributes to technical publications, Geraint is also a member of the national council of the VAT Practitioners Group. As a fluent Welsh speaker, Geraint would love the opportunity to take the first Welsh language appeal before the First Tier Tribunal!
