Mark Treacher
Mark is a partner advising on all aspects of VAT. He works with a broad range of clients, from owner-managed businesses and corporates through to charities and construction organisations, helping them manage VAT as efficiently as possible.
Mark helps clients navigate complex legislation, case law and guidance, ensuring they have a thorough understanding of their VAT position before optimising it. He focuses on areas such as liability, exemptions and partial recovery, aiming either to prevent VAT becoming an irrecoverable cost or to maximise recovery where possible. With in-house client experience, he’s known for providing practical advice that businesses can implement, including the steps, systems changes and follow-up required to make it work.
Bringing nearly 25 years’ experience in VAT advisory, Mark’s worked across many sectors, with a particular focus on financial services. He’s led national indirect tax work on asset finance, supporting major motor captive finance companies and specialist leasing businesses, as well as advising banking, real estate, private equity and transaction teams on complex VAT issues.
A long-standing member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation, Mark also supports his former secondary school with careers events and mock interviews, encouraging students to see a future for themselves in the profession.
