Maureen Penfold

Maureen Penfold is the Managing Partner of Moore Kingston Smith. With a global mindset and vision for growth, Maureen’s broad knowledge of the firm and its market follows 25 years’ experience as a partner – several of which have been on the Governance Board.

Maureen’s passion lies with people – and at the heart of her approach is a deep understanding that people are at the core of every business. People come first – and at Moore Kingston Smith, it is all about nurturing relationships to ensure that clients and colleagues alike are equipped to achieve their potential and meet their aspirations.

In 2019 Maureen steered the integration of the firm into the Moore Global network, allowing Moore Kingston Smith to better support clients in their international growth objectives. As a result, the firm now offers a fully integrated global service to its clients, as well as having increased collegiate connections and collaboration with its member firms worldwide.

To her clients, Maureen is their trusted business partner, advocate and adviser. As a chartered accountant and audit practitioner with over 30 years’ experience in advising entrepreneurial businesses, she has guided owner-managers through all stages of development; from start-up to growth, through crisis management and on to their ultimate sale, or passing down to the next generation. Maureen works in close partnership with her clients; affording her significant insight into their long-term goals and ambitions at a strategic level. Her advice is tailored to support their personal and lifestyle aims, as well as their business development aspirations.

Maureen has been at the forefront of encouraging open conversations regarding mental health and wellbeing at Moore Kingston Smith; ensuring support is available to everyone. As a result, many clients have gone on to replicate similar programmes within their own organisations. The firm’s focus on wellbeing was formally recognised when it was awarded Silver in Mind’s Workplace Wellbeing Index 2019-2020. The BBC also featured some of the initiatives Maureen implemented to keep the firm’s people socially connected to support their wellbeing during the pandemic.

The wider community sits close to Maureen’s heart; and Moore Kingston Smith has a long standing history of giving back to those around them. By supporting and providing guidance to local people, businesses and charities, the firm is helping to empower communities and pave the way to success for future generations. For two decades, Moore Kingston Smith has organised an annual Action Day; where over 500 of our people work with local communities across London on an array of charitable projects – working in schools, building adventure playgrounds, and assisting with residential care homes, halfway houses, city farms and YMCAs.

In her spare time, Maureen is also a school governor and a director of West London Business. To relax, Maureen enjoys time with her family here in the UK and the US.
