Philip Allum
Philip Allum is a Director in the Donor Funded Services team, and a fellow of the ICAEW. He has 16 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector and over six years’ experience working specifically in donor funded services.
As a specialist professional within international donor funding, Phil has overseen a global network of offices to deliver over 500 assurance assignments in more than 30 countries including financial and internal audits, expenditure verifications and forensic investigations for clients including major international donors such as the European Commission (specifically DG ECHO, DG INTPA and DG NEAR), United Nations agencies (including UNICEF, UNDP, UNFPA) the Global Fund and GiZ, Sports Federations and several international charities.
Clients appreciate Phil for his technical expertise and supportive persona and value his significant hands-on experience of managing and leading grant audits in the field, often in complicated and fragile contexts.
After initially qualifying as an auditor specialising in the nonprofit sector, he held financial management roles in leading international NGOs including finance and contract lead for a consortium delivering a multi-million-pound FCDO contract and in a business partner capacity advising fundraising and programme teams.
Phil is also a Certified Fraud Examiner and as a passionate practitioner in the nonprofit sector sits on the committee as Treasurer with a local charity supporting individuals with Autistic Spectrum Disorders.
