Sophie Lord
Sophie Lord is Head of Learning and Development at Moore Kingston Smith and brings 17 years’ experience to the role. Having joined the firm in 2015 to set up and lead the firm’s new Learning & Development function, Sophie has collaborated with her team and colleagues to develop a holistic People offering, bringing Learning & Development, HR, Early Talent and Resourcing & Recruitment under one People ‘umbrella’.
The team has established bespoke learning curricula with a focus on providing all the firm’s people, across all disciplines and jobs roles, with innovative learning, tailored development, clear career paths and compliance training. The Early Talent team was created in 2020 and has oversight of trainee development, which includes new in-house learning modules, the introduction of data analytics training and formal mentoring.
Wellbeing is a core offering from the collective People team and Sophie was integral in the introduction of 14 Mental Health First Aiders at Moore Kingston Smith. She and the HR team work closely alongside the Wellbeing committee to support mental health awareness and meet regularly to discuss ways to sign-post support to those that need it.
The firm’s Learning & Development initiatives have been shortlisted for various awards, including the British Accountancy Awards in 2019 (Graduate and Non-Graduate Programme of the Year) and Managing Partner Forum awards in 2020 (Best L&D Programme). The team won the West London Business awards 2020 which evaluated work from the firm’s Wellbeing campaign.
