Ian Thomas

A director at Moore Kingston Smith Financial Advisers, Ian Thomas heads the employee benefits consultancy arm. Highly experienced as a private client financial planner, Ian advises organisations on a range of staffing aspects, including financial education and wellbeing, as well as workplace pension scheme design and governance reviews, auto-enrolment, and group risk and private medical insurance arrangements.

Formerly co-founder of Pilot Financial before selling the business to Moore Kingston Smith, Ian and his team are held in high regard across the UK independent school sector. Many of the nation’s leading independent schools rely on Ian’s specialist knowledge of the Teachers’ Pension Scheme and defined contribution workplace pension schemes.

Ian is a chartered and certified financial planner and a chartered wealth manager. He co-founded Pilot Financial in 2011. With over 30 years’ experience in financial services, Ian previously held management positions at JP Morgan, Fidelity Investments, Old Mutual Wealth and AXA.

Outside work, he is a judge at the Schroders Investment Platform Awards and a governor at Blundell’s School in Devon.
