James Davenport

James Davenport is a general practice partner, supporting owner-managed businesses across the full suite of accounting, tax and advisory services delivered by the firm.

James helps SMEs maintain their momentum and reach their goals, whether that’s growing or selling the business. With a broad range of accounting knowledge and experience, he is a solution finder, able to adapt and assist clients in navigating the various opportunities and challenges they face across changes in the regulatory landscape and the rise in the cost of living. With the success of his clients his number one priority, James collaborates with the firm’s specialists and draws on the wider Moore network to further help them grow their business sustainably, extract value efficiently and comply with applicable laws and regulations.

Working with a variety of entrepreneurial clients across a range of sectors, including manufacturing and construction, leisure, hospitality and travel, and professional firms, James sees advising in this space as his vocation. He shares the same passion for the business as the entrepreneurs that own them.

Clients see James as an extension of their own team. They note his high level of involvement, speed of response, friendly approach, and both trust and value his input when making key business decisions because they know that he cares deeply about realising their goals and objectives.

The level of care James offers extends to his team, as he works with individuals to aid their career progression within the firm. As part of Moore Kingston Smith’s mentorship programme, he acts as a sounding board to help his colleagues succeed in the world of accounting.

ICAEW qualified, James is a governor at his childhood primary school and leads the firm’s partnership with the King’s College Entrepreneurship Institute.
