Nilam Chawla

Nilam is a member of the private client team in the firm’s West End media office and heads the firm’s foreign entertainers service.

Specialising in tax planning and compliance in the film, television and theatre sector, Nilam advises actors, musicians and other performers coming to work in the UK, ensuring their UK tax obligations are properly managed. Her work includes advising both performers and engagers, as well as preparing and managing UK tax compliance.

Nilam acts for a wide range of high‑profile clients, including well‑known actors, musicians and sportspeople, providing both advisory and compliance services. She also has extensive expertise in employment taxes within the film, television and theatre sector, including employment status issues, IR35 and off‑payroll working rules.

Before joining Moore Kingston Smith, Nilam worked for a boutique, media‑focused accountancy practice which merged with Moore Kingston Smith in 2008. A CTA‑qualified specialist, she has over 40 years’ experience advising clients in the film, television and theatre industry.
