Sally Knight

Sally Knight has worked with the nonprofit team since 2018. She draws on over 25 years of experience of working in the charity and nonprofit sector, initially as Head of Internal Audit at a UK children’s charity, and subsequently as an External Audit and Advisory Partner, before moving to advisory work in 2017. She now specialises in delivering systems, risk management and governance reviews for both nonprofit and commercial clients. She is a passionate advocate of looking beyond the documentation and will often challenge clients to identify wider practical and behavioural points to help make governance work better.

As well as working with Moore Kingston Smith, Sally advises several other organisations, and supports individual Trustees and Directors on an independent basis. As a Chartered Accountant, she was one of the first advisors to achieve the Diploma in Charity Accounting (DChA) when it was launched by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW). Sally is retained by ICAEW to develop and deliver its core ‘Charity Essentials’ webinars, the online Trustee Training Modules, Trustee CPD course, and other sessions on Risk Management and Governance.

Sally is an independent member of the Audit & Risk Committee of a major UK grant-giving and social change charity. She also volunteers for a couple of local organisations, and this helps her to empathise with the challenges facing charities and trustees from the ‘other side of the fence’.
