David Byrne

As a director in the R&D department’s government incentives team, David supports innovative businesses and helps them secure the government funding they are entitled to. His technical knowledge, project experience and communication skills ensure that all stakeholders are engaged and that claim methodologies are tailored to organisations’ needs.

David has built a strong working relationship with HMRC, contributing to various committees and consultations. Combining an engineering background with a wealth of experience in professional services, David supports the delivery of robust and efficient R&D tax relief claims for even the most complex of projects.

Having led some of the UK’s largest R&D tax relief claims across sectors including software, media, telecoms and financial services, he has amassed several decades of advisory experience. His expertise encompasses R&D, Patent Box and other government incentives across many different industry sectors.

David’s earlier career was as a software engineer with a FTSE100 financial information provider, designing and developing global platforms and leading international teams within blue-chip organisations
