CC14 updated guidance for trustees

7 August 2023 / Insight posted in Article

As anticipated, the Charity Commission has released updated guidance on charities and investments (CC14 Investing charity money: guidance for trustees). The new guidance offers greater clarity to trustees, with a view to providing additional confidence when investing their charity’s funds.

Taking into account the findings of the Butler-Sloss case which looked at responsible investing by its trustees, the redesign of CC14 looks to remove barriers that may deter trustees who want to make responsible investment decisions. It also includes practical examples of issues which may need to be taken into account, such as the potential for ethical conflict.

A copy of the updated guidance can be found on the government website.
