Moore Kingston Smith Media Outlook results – six months later

18 July 2023 / Insight posted in Article

Every November, we run a short media outlook survey that seeks to gauge how you think the year ahead will play out for your media business. The overall sentiment last November was surprisingly strong. However, the continued economic pressures mean 2023 is proving to be a year of flux with businesses feeling the squeeze of macro-economic pressures, clients delaying decisions on spend, and huge salary pressures. With this in mind, we repeated a shorter version of that survey in the late spring of 2023 to gather your thoughts six months on.

Last year’s autumn outlook survey displayed some pretty bullish predictions of average profit margins for 2022 and 2023, of 15% and 14.5% respectively. After analysing the most recent set of results, the predictions of those who took part in the survey have worsened, which is not surprising given the macro-economic backdrop.
