Moore Kingston Smith’s Nonprofit Advisory team has advised charities and nonprofits for more than 25 years. Over the last 18 months the team has grown significantly and there are now 14 team members, with a range of skills and experience expanding from its core of fundraising, impact management and financial sustainability.

The team’s core focus is to respond and support their clients with the many issues they are faced with and provide the kind of advice and ongoing support that enable organisations to thrive.

Work from the Nonprofit Advisory team

One of our long-term and valued clients Dunhill Medical Trust (DMT) has worked with us for a number of years. Their Head of Communities and Governance, Sarah Allport, said, “They are absolute experts in the subject matter, they really get community organisations. Very responsive, great to work with, very good on logistics and detail. I would recommend Moore Kingston Smith.” We have worked with DMT over the years to understand the impact made by the grants they distribute and to build up their grantees through a targeted development programme. This currently comprises running away days and producing webinars and video-on-demand resources for community-facing organisations working with older people. The project draws in several Associates including: Financial Strategist, Mark Salway; Organisational Change Expert, Sara Ramsey; and our Social Impact Lead, Karl Leathem.

We are also working with a leading benevolent society to help it build the measurement of social impact into a major CRM implementation project. This will enable the charity’s leaders to make future strategy and resourcing decisions based on where it is creating the most change in people’s lives. This project involves understanding all aspects of the charity’s service delivery and is being led by our impact lead, Karl, along with Liz Riley, another Impact Specialist, and Jacinta Ashworth and Manda Long, who are Social and Market Researchers, conducting stakeholder engagement sessions.

Other recent work has included advising an international nature charity on its 20-year strategic vision and supporting finance strategy with Mark Salway and governance guru, Sally Knight. Dr Simon Kay provided executive coaching and major gift funding advice to another international charity, working within the Indian education system. We are also working with a growing grant-making charity to ensure its finance systems, governance controls and people policies keep pace with its growth. The latter service is being provided by Moore Kingston Smith People Advisory, our group of HR experts.
